WHAT DOES ARMCHAIR DO

We are always seeking gifts from the public of good quality, second hand furniture and houseold items, which we collect, store and deliver, free of charge, to needy individuals and families, referred by Health visitors, Social Workers, Probation Officers etc.

Please note that our area of operation is Worcester City only

The Armchair van operates within 3 miles of Worcester City Centre collecting donations and recycling them to people in need, especially the homeless upon being re-housed

We are open Monday to Friday 9.30 am - 1.30 pm

When we are usually out in the van – please leave details and we will contact you. We are not a rubbish collection service and welcome only good quality gifts of second hand furniture and household items.

We hand them on free of charge, for re-use by needy individuals and families. In 2016/7 a total of 819 household items were delivered to 208 families or individuals in need in Worcester.

People in need are referred to Armchair by Health Visitors, Social Workers, Housing Support Agencies, the Citizens Advice Bureau and Maggs Day Centre for the Homeless.

The Charity offers very good value for money. Each family/person helped received 4 items, costing £31.25 each, a total cost of £125 which is about the cost of a single bed for four good pieces of second hand furniture that would otherwise have been taken to a landfill site at great cost to the local community.
