REFERRALS FROM AGENCIES

As a general rule charities may help only if the client is unable to afford the item(s) requested and there is no statutory help available or it has been refused. Applicants are also requested to ask friends and family for help before approaching the charity.

The DWAS (01905 722233) no longer provides second hand furniture but does still provide white goods in an emergency, for clients in receipt of means tested benefits, providing they meet certain criteria.

Armchair does not do electrical goods, carpets, clothing, bedding, crockery, cutlery etc.

The Maggs Clothing Project, 59-60 The Tything (01905 25027) provides, if available, clothes, bedding, pots, pans and cutlery. Open to callers Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9am to 12 noon.

In respect of furniture requests it is essential to state below whether the client is in receipt of means tested benefits. Forms without this statement will not be processed.
